ENCYCLOPAEDIA BRITANNICA

Missing volumes II, III, IX, XIII, XXIII & XXIV

These Encyclopaedias belonged to
Geo (or Yeo) Tozer, who later lived in the same
home William B. Travis used to live in.

These books were bound in leather

It seems that these books were in fire or near heat
although none of the books have actual scorching or burned marks.
Otherwise they became very dry over the years.

Geo (Yeo) K. Tozer signed many of the encyclopaedias
in beautiful caligraphy.  He signed them in 1884.
I believe the first name is Geo or Yeo...it is hard to decifer
the first letter because of the caligraphy.

The edges of the pages have the same design as the inside cover design you
see here in this picture.  This is a common design you will
find in many books from the 1800s.

I thought it was appropriate to show the "book" topic in one
of the encyclopaedias :)

I think these books look the coolest on my shelves
because of their size and leather look.
